Brief history of Champagne
Champagne is considered a luxury drink, and the monk credited with its development was Dom Pierre Pérignon.
Interestingly, Dom Pérignon managed to make a great white wine from red grapes, but a small detail emerged: bubbles appeared in the bottles of his white wine. Dom Pérignon did not understand what was happening; in fact, he spent much of his life trying to avoid bubbles in the wine.
However, the English, to whom the monks sent white wine, loved the "bad" version; that is, they preferred the "bubbly" Dom Pérignon wine to the regular version.
Legend has it that when the monk Dom Pérignon tasted this wine, he said to his companions: "Come quickly, I am drinking the stars".
