Brief history of Champagne
Champagne is considered a luxury drink, and the monk credited with its development was Dom Pierre Pérignon.
Interestingly, Dom Pérignon did not intend to make a sparkling wine; his intention was to make white wine from red grapes.
Finally, Dom Pérignon succeeded in making a great white wine from red grapes, but a small detail emerged: bubbles appeared in the bottles of his white wine. Dom Pérignon did not understand what was happening; in fact, he spent much of his life trying to avoid bubbles in the wine.
However, the English, to whom the monks sent white wine, loved the "bad" version; that is, they preferred the "bubbly" Dom Pérignon wine to the regular version.
